    The Story and Some Thanks

    I’ve never been one for getting a lot of sleep, but gosh, staying up for 24 hours, sure makes you appreciate forty winks or so. Wait, wasn’t that a Playstation game?

    Anyway, what a journey it has been. Last year I raised £764 for Special Effect, and I knew that I wanted to do it again, but on a bigger scale. I didn’t mean in terms of how I went about raising the donation money, but in terms of my total reach and spreading of the good word. I knew that if done properly, the sky was the limit, and I’d need a crack squad of talented, professional individuals to help me do so.

    Unfortunately, none of them wanted to work for or with me, so instead I invited three of my best friends, Richard Fitzjohn, Steven Hill and Ian Cox, to aid me with one simple problem; how can we maximise the amount of money we raise for Special Effect?

    It’s getting close…

    Special Effect Visit!

    On Friday, the team went on a long and dangerous road trip to the wilds of somewhere near Oxford to visit Special Effect.

    In the next couple of days, we’ll have some pictures, a full report and maybe even a little video to show you all…but for now, go check out Special Effect’s take on our visit! 

    We had a great day meeting them and finding out in more detail about the work that they do, and suffice to say our desire to help has only been galvanised by Friday’s trip.

    Recently The Squad had the pleasure of having our battle-worn and rugged good looks captured on camera, by our good friend and professional photographer Ben Dempster. As you can see, Ben’s camera wizardry means that we don’t scrub up too badly, despite Fitz’s inclinations towards shirts with leafs on them.

    The location of the photoshoot was the Pinball Parlour, located in Ramsgate, Kent. This quaint museum is tucked away in some of the towns winding roads, and houses an impressive collection of Pinball machines spanning a time period of nearly forty years. Although we were there for photographic purposes, we took the time to try some of the machines out, and walked away with a very strong impression, that we belong with bullets and tanks and not with bumpers and pinballs.
